Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is the compression and thickening of nerve tissue that occurs at the base of the third and fourth toe. “Intermetatarsal” refers to the location of the neuroma; the ball of the foot between the metatarsal bones (the bones extending from the toes to the midfoot).

Symptoms include a burning sensation, feeling a bump on the balls of your feet, pain, numbness and tingling.

The main cause of Morton’s neuroma is wearing tight, high-heeled, pointy shoes that over time constrict the toes and compress the nerves. Other causes include: bunions, hammer toes, flat feet and running.

ErgoJoy therapeutic inserts lift and support the longitudinal arch, shifting the excessive weight from the metatarsal arch. This allows the metatarsal bones to settle back into their proper place, and helps reduce the nerve pinching that causes Morton’s neuroma.
